Jamie Waelchli
Recently I’ve captured photographs of my children, their toys, our home and our yard using DSLR pinhole photography. Instead of a lens, I shoot through a tiny hole in an old body cap. Only a sliver of light comes through the pinhole, so the shutter stays open for a relatively long slice of time. The resulting softness and distortion reflect how the mundane can become haunting and surreal during a time of challenge and transformation. The technical simplicity of this approach connects with the ruggedness inherent in adapting to pandemic life.
