Melanie Cowden
Artist Statement: I use graphite, ink, or paint to replicate the human form. I am most inspired by facial features: so much so that the whole idea for each art piece is to create a unique face.
Bio: I am an 18 year old artist living in Amboy, Washington. I make an effort to transcribe facial features through each brush/ pencil/ ink stroke.
Title of Piece: “Morgana Longface”
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Course: ART101, 2D Art & Design
Professor: Stephen Hayes
Gwendolyn Dallum
Artist Statement: My artwork is a reflection of my thoughts, feelings, and inspirations. From a young age, I was inspired by Barbies, dolls, and observing people. I was fascinated by the detail in the human figure as well as how to capture clothing. As I got older, I experimented with landscape and animals. My father is from South Dakota and the many vacations we went on inspired the western side of me. I work from a variety of material and love my oil pastel creations the most.
Bio: Starting around 3-4 years of age, I loved to draw. My mother kept a binder full of my drawings from each school year and most of them contained the human figure. I used drawing as a therapy and could spend hours creating artwork. I feel my creative childhood was a great foundation for how I see and create art projects today.

Grace Feucht
Artist Statement: I am a visual artist that works mostly with collage and paper cuts. These mediums can be used to create really realistic or unrealistic images. I use that to my advantage as my work is focused on romanticizing and appreciating the beauty of everyday life.
Bio: I was raised by an art teacher so I've been involved in the arts my entire life. As I grew older I experimented with the performing, visual and video arts. But over time, I've found that I can express myself and tell stories most freely through the visual arts. It was through exploring the visual arts more deeply that I found my voice through collage and paper cuts.

Bio: I've been a student at Clark College for a few years now and I'm about to graduate with my AA in Fine Arts/Graphic design! I have been into art since forever and taking art classes throughout high school and college has really helped me figure out that I want to be creative for a living.

Shannon Guo
Artist Statement: My artistic practice style is simple and life-oriented. A pen and a sketchbook make it easier for me to have the impulse to record every bit of life. If I have enough time to work on a project, I may think about it for a few days before preparing the material. Any material can be a tool for my creation. I'm most relaxed when I start with a random part. I like to expand my story continuity with small creations.
Bio: My name is Shannon Guo. I am a student studying for an associate's degree in liberal arts at Clark College. I love almost everything to do with art. So I'm more like a happy-go-lucky person, accepting all the art around me that I can come into contact with. Sophisticated, fashionable, unpretentious, simple, and humorous art styles are the scope of my consideration. I hope that through learning and training in Clark, my future self will be more calm and confident when entering the work field of art.
Title of Piece: “Dancing Girl in the Jungle”
Medium: Gouache on paper
Course: ART101, 2D Art & Design
Professor: Michelle Ramin
Madison Losinger
Artist Statement: My art style is based on my personal identity and life. I love to incorporate my culture, whether it’s drawing traditional Korean scroll art or including the colors from the Korean flag. I strive for my work to represent me. I tend to use acrylic paint, charcoal, pencils, and Micron pens for my artwork.
Bio: I come from a creative family, who has inspired and supported my artwork since the day I was interested in creating projects. I’m currently majoring in business and minoring in fine arts. I hope to one day have a career that’s based on creating and designing artwork for the company I currently work at.
Title of Piece: “Self Portrait”
Medium: Acrylic paint, color pencils, Micron pens, Sharpie, masking tape on paper
Course: ART104, Observational Drawing
Professor: Michelle Ramin
Von Miller
Artist Statement: Oftentimes, my inspiration comes from the whimsical way in which I view the world around me. Whether I am working with monochrome charcoals or vibrant paints, I enjoy my art most when it's brought to life through lighting and movement portrayed within the composition. I balance my practice between freely creating art from the depths of my imagination, and observing the commodities surrounding us that oftentimes get overlooked. Either way, I always find joy in adding a touch of magic to each stroke that I have been given the opportunity to create with my own hands.
Bio: Surrounded by the tall, lush evergreens of Washington, I have been living beneath these giants for all 17 years of my life. Raised by one parent who takes their time to analyze life logically and another who finds themself riding along as a free spirit. While growing up, I didn't consider the possibility that I could make my passion for the arts into a career. It wasn't until my recent years that I have taken the chance to join Clark College as a Running Start student and really consider myself becoming an artist.
Title of Piece: “Grid Self Portrait”
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Course: ART101, 2D Art & Design
Professor: Stephen Hayes
Jessica Peters
Artist Statement: I’m an artist that lets inspiration find me. When I see something beautiful, it inspires me to draw. I’m influenced by reality. I want my subject to see themselves in my work. I draw what comes to mind or something that caught my eye. I am really inspired by colors. My art is semi-realistic using traditional media.
Bio: I have always been a creative person. I started out writing stories in high school. Then, I decided I wanted to put out beautiful food and desserts. I went to culinary school (twice) and really excelled with that, but the industry is not a fun place to be. I got back into writing short stories and motivational paragraphs and I went back to school for art because I wanted to take my stories and illustrate them.

Kyle Pettyjohn
Artist Statement: Art, for me, has been a creative outlet and a way to connect and explore. I've always been overly analytical and art has allowed me to expose my creative side and break away from my analytical side. Through art, I continue to learn about the endless possibilities that exist within one's creative self.
Bio: I'm 25 years old and still very much in the experimental stages of creating art. I love not considering myself as an artist because I feel that it allows me to be fluid in my methods and perspective. Wherever my path takes me in life, I will be forever grateful for what art has opened my eyes to.

In 2018, I decided to go back for my high school diploma at the age of 28 and realized that I loved school and transitioned into college courses.
