Title of Piece: “Still life in Grey”
Medium: Watercolor on paper
Dimensions: 12” x 9”
Artist Statement: I used a variety of grey mixtures to create a black and white still life. I wanted the piece to be dynamic even though it was in grey scale. I also wanted to be true to the shadows while using them to support the realism and add drama to the work.
Bio: I always enjoyed being creative through visual arts as a child, but quit practicing for many years into my adulthood. I think that I felt like the things I was passionate about weren't necessarily practical. As I've gotten older, I've reestablished my creative habits and have been working towards fine tuning them. Whether anything "practical" comes from it or not, I know I will always want to incorporate art as a creative expression in some form or another. In my creative process, I tend to try to delve deep into my subjects. I usually attempt to communicate something personal, but I also am very detail oriented. I'd like to be able to express something "real" about the subject through my visual interpretation.

Title of Piece: “Nephews”
Medium: Pen and watercolor on paper
Dimensions: 11” x 14”
Artist Statement: I spend a lot of time with kids, mostly my nephews, but other kids as well. They are a well spring of inspiration for me. Playing and making things together is something I really enjoy. My creative process begins with something catching my eye, such as my nephews playing with slime. I file the moment away so I can return to it later. Upon returning to an idea I often start by drawing or sketching, but typically combine other mediums including, collage, printmaking, watercolor, and photography depending on the outcome I wish to achieve.
Bio: Everyday I’m able to discover new ways to observe beauty. It’s often found in a single moment that for some reason transcends others. I use a variety of mediums to articulate these moments visually depending on the outcome I wish to achieve. The process may begin with something catching my physical eyes, but my inner eye, or my mind’s eye, is really guiding me. To me, creating art is a process of self-revelation. It shows me how I’m connecting to the world and to myself.

Title of Piece: “Fairy Collage”
Medium: Graphite, ink, and watercolor on paper
Dimensions: 24” x 18”
Artist Statement: For this piece, I was tasked to gather images from a magazine and recreate them in a composition. I not only layered images on top of one another, but I also joined others together to create an entirely new picture. The girl in the center of the piece, for instance, is composed of five different images.
Bio: Since I was given my first art lesson as a kid, I have always had an interest in art. Luckily, I have been encouraged by my family members, peers, and teachers to pursue this passion. Although I am still in school, I hope to have a career in the art and design world, where I can create art that makes people smile. Until then, you'll most likely find me sketching away with a new project always on my mind.

Title of Piece: “Negative Space”
Medium: Watercolor on paper
Dimensions: 9” x 20”
Artist Statement: For this painting I made a collage of photos of my friends. I then sketched and painted the collage, leaving some spots white to fulfill the assignment of negative space. A lot of these pictures are from trips I've taken and small moments from those trips with people I love dearly, so It felt very special to put this together.
Bio: For the future I'm hoping to eventually become a tattoo artist, and if not that I will take anything that keeps me making art. I've been making art my whole life and it's the only thing I have for sure known I wanted to pursue. My creativity comes from my experiences and the ways they made me feel. My emotions always play a role in my art even subconsciously through the colors I pick.
