Digital Art: Selections
Student Name: Joymae Capps
Title of Piece: “Maxwell”
Medium: Photoshop
Dimensions: 10” x 13”
Artist Statement: I made this piece to accompany a short story I wrote about a dad trying to convince his son to kill his sister. I experimented a lot with the style of this illustration and found the end result to be surreal and tense.
Bio: I'm a Pacific Northwest based artist who thoroughly enjoys the works of Naoki Urasawa and Yayoi Kusama. Trauma and the relationships between people, whether it be between others or between one and oneself, remains a huge influence on my work. I hope to be able to truly grasp the ideas that currently lay dormant within me, so that I may create what I lack the words to describe.

Title of Piece: “Chicago Street”
Medium: Digital Painting
Dimensions: 17” x 11”
Artist Statement: Photographic reference by Max W Bender.
Bio: I'm trying to build technical skill in many mediums of art, and digital is no exception. Learning how to reference or create a background is a nice break from regular figure drawing or still lifes, and encourages me to play around with color and atmosphere, as well as learn light dynamics and perspective.
