Student Name: Avalon Guerra
Title of Piece: “Expansion”
Medium: Spray painted book
Dimensions: 9” x 6” x 6”
Artist Statement: This piece is about texture. The visual aspect of something peculiar and strange. After destroying a few books before this one, I found how it expanded when shredded.
Bio: My goal is to sell my art online for a living. In my art journey, I want to try as many mediums as I can. As long as I’m making something, I will thrive. My creative process is usually trial and error.

Title of Piece: “College Life”
Medium: Wire and soap
Dimensions: 15” x 6” x 10”
Artist Statement: My wire sculpture is a self portrait and I wanted to convey my school experience during spring term. With it being my most stressful quarter I've ever had, I wanted to make my hair bun look frazzled like my brain. At the same time, I love the positive side of life. Being with my family during quarantine has been a blast and we've laughed a lot. I portrayed that with my cheeks and mouth. The base is made out of natural soap we made from home, which I love the idea of the piece being clean. Overall, an enjoyable project, for sure.
Bio: My goal is to graduate with my associate's in Graphic Design. Fine art has always been a passion since I was a little girl. Being on this educational journey is more than I ever could've wished. For me, I realize my creative side shows itself more when I think outside the box. I am not afraid to fail, am deeply interested in the project at hand, and love the whole creating process. Making art is therapy for me and I am so thankful I was given this gift.

Title of Piece: “Time Is Endless”
Medium: Spray paint on clock
Dimensions: 8.75” in diameter x 1.5”
Artist Statement: Time never stops. It’s an endless moment of the present. This white wall clock with a minimal design inspires us to contemplate time and what it truly means.
Bio: Kurt Olstead is a creative, born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Currently studying Graphic Design at Clark College, his work explores notions of Love, Life, and Death. These concepts often draw inspiration from a wide spectrum of places, ranging from natural spaces to the city streets. He utilizes sculpture, installation, drawing, spray paint, photography and graphic design to explore the many facets of artistic expression. Through his work, he aims to evoke passion and rawness from his audience. He lends inspiration by sharing his unique points of view in moments often overlooked by others.

Title of Piece: “Ezekiel 36:26”
Medium: Wire, cement, gesso, oil paint, oil pastel
Dimensions: 15” x 10” x 8”
Artist Statement: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." - Ezekiel 36:26
This piece is hollow inside, with a slot on the top of the bear meant for wisdom and truth to be dropped inside.
Bio: When creating, I often like to start with an under-painting of ideas previously expressed, but not yet resolved. My works consist of a variety of media, whatever I feel will work in favor of the end goal. Through different media one can explore and present to others a new perspective. I believe that art is not only a way of seeing, but of problem solving. I plan to continue to explore and stretch the concept of art in my day-to-day practice as well as in the business world. I plan on owning my own boutique someday soon.
